Description

The Swedish porcelain company Elgporslin made several wall plate series during the years. This plate is part of a series depicting Swedish Churches. The motif of this plate is Skå kyrka / Ska Church, which is situated on one of the islands in the Stockholm Archipelago, Mälaröarna / Lake Malaren Islands.

The Skå Church originates from the latter part of the 12th century. The church was rebuilt and reinaugurated in 1702 due to a major fire. In 1885 the church was given its present tower. The most precious sculpture is a rood cross / triumphal cross made of oak tree and dating from the 15th century. There are also several beautiful textiles to be found, the most remarkable an embroidery from years 1325-1350.

The Skå Church wall plate edition was made in a limited edition, this plate being number 36. It comes in excellent condition with original packaging. Measuring Ø 19,5 cm / 7,5 inches.
