Description

This plate from famous Swedish porcelain manufacturer Gustavsberg is number 2 in the Bromma Plate Series, Bällsta kvarn (The Bällsta Mill) 1979. Design by Ulla Gina Andersson. Made in Sweden in a limited edition. Ø 21,7 cm / 8,54 inches.

The Bällsta Mill (sometimes even referred to as Ulvsunda kvarn/i.e. mill) is situated in Bromma, one of the old “garden suburbs” of Stockholm. The mill was founded in 1855 by a Knut Bennet, owner to the Bällsta Farm. The year and initials – KB 1855 – can still be found on the vane. With the further expansion of the Stockholm Bromma Airport in 1939, the mill had to be relocated to another mountain nearby, just above a small lake in the district Ulvsunda in Bromma. This area is part of a cultural heritage which dates back to the 7th century A.D. The mill has been gently restored during 2020.

The plate made of bone china with decor in black comes in excellent condition. It has never been displayed. It comes with without original box.
