Description
Elgporslin (Elg Porcelain), Sweden, made this wall plate to celebrate Christmas in 1976. It is called God Jul (Merry Christmas) 1976 and the picture shows a traditional farmstead originally from the historical province Härjedalen in the central parts of Sweden. The farmstead is called Älvrosgården and was moved to Skansen, the world’s oldest open-air museum during the early 1900s. The plate measures Ø 25 cm / approx. 10 inches. The drawing was made by Birger Värnild. Around the edge are several small Mr and Mrs Claus.
This plate is so kitschy with its blend of traditional motif and a ring of Santa’s in a typically 70s bright red colour and the font style which is also so much 1970s. It comes in excellent condition with original box. The box shows several signs of wear due to age.
Made in Sweden.
