Description

The Barnens dag (The Children’s Day) is a philantropic organisation founded in 1967, with its origin in the late 19th century Swedish summer camps for children from poor, urban families.

The Swedish porcelain company Elgporslin made the “Barnens Dag” annual plates series with motifs from Swedish illustrators of children’s books. The 1973 plate was the first in series and shows a precious scene of Lillan (Little Girl) from the 1909 picture book Kattresan (the Cat Journey) by Ivar Arosenius (text and illustrations). The original drawing is signed by Arosenius in 1907. Limited edition of 1600 pieces. The plates available here have number 1252 and 1552.

Excellent condition with original packaging. Measures Ø 21.5 cm / 8 inches.

Made in Sweden.
