Description
The Swedish stoneware company Hoganas Ceramics / Höganäs keramik was founded in 1909 and is today part of the Rörstrand brand.
The Folklore series was made from 1977 and onwards during the 1980s. These large stoneware plates depicts motifs from 18th and 19th century Swedish traditional wall-paintings and tapestries, so called kurbits, rosepainting or dalmålning, mostly common in the historical province (landscape) Dalarna.
This plate is number 3 in series and shows a scene from the Wedding at Cana / Bröllopet i Cana. The original kurbits / rosepainting motif is signed by Winter Carl Hansson around year 1800. The plate measures Ø 27 cm / 10,5 inches and comes in excellent condition. No box.
